Brownlow Watch – Kerr, Brown make early running
Posted Mar 26, 2008 - 1:42 AM
Carlton captain Chris Judd may have started the season atop the Brownlow Medal betting, but it hasn’t taken long for the former West Coast skipper to be over taken at the head of the list.
TAB Sportsbet has installed Eagle Daniel Kerr and Brisbane’s Jonathan Brown as equal medal favourites after each had brilliant Round 1 matches, while Geelong’s Gary Ablett also finds himself ahead of Judd who won the 2004 Brownlow.
St Kilda’s Nick Dal Santo has worked his way into the top six of the betting after a best afield display against Sydney at the weekend, while Hawthorn pair Sam Mitchell and Lance Franklin started the season with a bang and are well entrenched in the top ten fancies.
Swan Adam Goodes and Lion Simon Black have Brownlows to their names already, but have not been discounted in 2008 and are also high up in the betting.
Here are the tope ten Brownlow Medal favourites after Round 1 of the AFL season.
