Spotlight on WAFL this week

The Spotlight should be on the WAFL this week after a succesful ANZAC weekend of matches which saw crowds up for WAFL

This week Kalgoorlie will host its fifth WAFL league game this Saturday when Subiaco and Peel Thunder do battle at Digger Daws Oval in Kalgoorlie/Boulder.

The Lions have played in all four of the previous games – winning three and losing one.

Since they last played in Kalgoorlie – in Round 15, 2003 when they beat Swan Districts 9.9 to 3.22, the Lions have won 86 and lost just 18 of their 104.

A win to Peel will see them do something they have only ever done once before in their history – win three consecutive games. The last time the Thunder won three straight was back in rounds 16, 17 and 18 in 2002. Even though Peel has only beaten the Lions twice from 28 meetings – its supporters will remember their last clash. A ninth placed Peel caused a boil over by defeating first place Subiaco by eight points back in round 15, 2007 and broke a 13-game losing streak against the Lions. It was just the third time in history that a 9th placed team beat a 1st placed team.

West Perth v East Fremantle
