Perth has put a serious dent in West Perth’s finals aspirations following a 36-point upset win over their cross-town rivals at Arena Joondalup on Saturday.

The Demons led at every change in the Perth derby, and sealed the 21.13 (139) to 16.7 (103) win with a 6 goal final term.

Midfielder Ross Young put in a stellar best on ground performance for the Demons, collecting 40 touches, including a game-high 30 kicks, as well as 2 goals.

Jarrod Kayler-Thomson was also one of Perth’s best, with 26 possessions and 3 goals, as was Matthew Ferguson, who kicked 3 goals to go with his 11 marks and 23 possessions.

Kane Ransted was a handful for West Perth, finishing with 4 goals, while at the other end Troy Longmuir booted 4 goals in a losing side.

Mark Seaby was arguably West Perth’s best player, doing the bulk of the ruck work, to finish with 28 hit-outs and 25 disposals.

West Perth will now be feeling the pressure from East Perth and East Fremantle, who are just one win and percentage away from knocking the Falcons out of the top four.
