Match Summary

By Mike McGuire

Bottom placed side, Claremont, have produced an upset come-from-behind 14-point win over West Perth at Claremont Oval on Saturday afternoon. West Perth threw away a 22-point three-quarter time lead, failing to kick a goal in the last term, whilst Claremont sent through a match-winning five goals.

Chad Jones booted four goals for Claremont to remain on the number two spot on the goal-kicker list for the season, whilst James Staples chipped in with three handy goals. Luke Blackwell worked hard for his 31 disposals and one goal as did Jaxon Crabb who finished with 28 touches. For West Perth, Brent Lecras was handy up forward with three goals, whilst Kepler Bradley (27 touches) and skipper Jason Salecic (29 touches and one goal) were among their sides best.

The difference it seemed was that Claremont had two players who kicked three or more goals, whilst Brent Lecras played a lone hand in putting the points on the board for his side.

Claremont now have four wins for the season, continuing their good form against East Fremantle in the previous round, whilst West Perth receive their fifth loss of the season and remain on seven wins.
