FORWARDS
Chris Gowans (8) – Jack Oatey Medallist knows how to perform on the big stage showing his usual tough attack on the opposition and the ball all day.
Daniel Havelberg (6) – two goals from the full forward and was a strong target in attack.
Scott Dutschke (6) – useful crumber around goal and snared two for the match, including goal of the day, dished a few others out but not a high possession winner.
Alan Obst (6) – finally coming of age after so much has been expected from him in the past, two opening term goals got the ball rolling for Central District.
Heath Lawry (4) – well controlled by Shane Schubert after starting strongly but dropped out of the game quickly.
Ian Callinan (8) – valued Tasmanian recruit was the game-breaker in the second quarter and finished with four goals in a shining display.
MIDFIELD
Adam Switala (4) – along with Lawry, was probably the only Bulldogs to be beaten on the day as he struggled to handle the pace of Bamford.
James Gowans (9) – like his brother, is a big game performer who came to play and was in everything. Could have been the twins SANFL swansong.
Charles Slattery (5) – sound on his wing and enjoyed the moment, considering he played for the bottom side West Adelaide last year.
Jonathan Griffin (5) – the Adelaide Crow was low on stats but pressured North’s ruckmen all day.
Brad Symes (7) – Port Power youngster puts demons to rest from previous week’s humiliation to be instrumental in the first quarter with 10 telling possessions but faded out after half-time.
Matthew Slade (6) – nuggety onballer was in and under all day dishing the ball out to his runners.
DEFENDERS
Nathan Grima (7) – another respected Tasmanian recruit who provided penetrating rebound off half back to set up countless Bulldog forays forward.
Daniel Schell (7) – looked like Alleway was going to get on top early but maintained his persistence to quell the big man’s influence on the contest.
Andrew Hayes (5) – had Motlop to contend with who was damaging early but stuck to his guns to be solid contributor.
Richard Cochrane (7) – hard working all game with tireless run from the back lines and always moved the ball forward, including several inspirational plays to set up goal scoring opportunities.
Yves Sibenaler (9) – didn’t get much of the ball himself, but prevented the danger man Gill from doing the same, which was crucial in Centrals winning the battle.
Captain Paul Thomas (6) – resolute as usual and a key figure in the winning defensive line-up.
INTERCHANGE
Elijah Ware (5) – limited opportunities, on and off the ground throughout.
Jason MacKenzie (6) – like Griffin, restricted ruckman O’Hara’s impact to stop the big man from bringing his small brigade into play.
Chad O’Sullivan (5) – contributed when he got his chance off the bench.
