St Kilda has removed Fraser Gehrig from the long-term injury list with the club reporting the veteran has trained well in recent weeks after recovering from hand surgery earlier this year.
The news does not mean Fraser will play AFL footy this year, with a club spokesman stating that his return to the senoir list was a precautionary move taken to provide cover in case of further injuries to key forwards.
Coach Ross Lyon said it was a really positive step taken by Gehrig to resume full training.
Fraser said that the club has supported him well in his recovery and he realises it will not be an easy task to break his way back into the team.
He added that he has worked hard to remain focused and stay fit in his bid to return to AFL footy.
The playing group is reported to be encouraged by Fraser’s return to the training track.
