St. Marys overcame a plucky Palmerston to keep hold of top spot on the TIO NTFL ladder. The Saints overcame a 16 point half time deficit to defeat the Magpies by 35 points with regular half back, James Pautjimi (4 goals) & goal sneak Samson Mungatopi (3 goals) finishing off the good work by a resurgent Saints backline in the second half. James Imbi was dominant for the Magpies early but was well held by Daniel Flesfadar later in the game. Donald Mungatopi helped set up the Magpies lead in the first half with 4 goals but he was quietened in the second half by first gamer, Ross Tungatalum.

In the early game on Saturday it was the Tiwi Bombers just. Nightcliff looked like causing the upset of the season when they lead by 23 points at three quarter time but the Bombers started to get on top, like they did last week against Southern Districts & a goal to the Bombers with the scores locked and only seconds to go to Ephrem Tipungwuti gave the Bombers the win. Nightcliff showed that they are a side on the improve & served notice that they will be around come finals time. The Tigers were best served by Warren Berto & Jayden Kickett whilst Graham Puruntatamerri with 5 goals, Edward Darcy & Roy Farmer were all good for the Bombers.

The second game of Saturdays triple header was a one sided affair with the Crocs unveiling another new recruit in Chris Kelly who booted 7 goals, Steele Viti chimed in with 6 of his own as Districts recorded a 120 point win over the hapless Wanderers. Keegan Dingo was also good for the Crocs with Relton Roberts and Steven Motlop amongst the few who offered any resistance for the Eagles.

Sunday afternoons game pitted Waratah against the Buffaloes at Gardens Oval. Fine weather and a good crowd saw the young Buffs offer little resistance to the home side. The Warriors recording a 106 point win with 5 players booting 3 goals each. Best for Tahs were Nathan McLean, Brad rayson & Jake Smart. Once again Cameron Stokes was a class act and he had some support from Lendal Victor.

The ladder see’s Saint Marys on 16 points, with Waratah & Tiwi Bombers on 12 points. Southern Districts on 8 whilst of the three teams on 4 points in Nightcliff, Palmerston & Darwin. Palmerston sneak into the five on percentage. Wanderers remain on the bottom of the table without a win.
