TIO NTFL Round 4 preview

Posted Oct 31, 2007 - 6:10 AM

New boys the Tiwi Bombers will confront an improving Nightcliff outfit in the first match of Saturdays triple header at TIO Stadium. The Bombers got their running game going late last week & ran all over the top of premiership fancies, titleholders Southern Districts. They should account for a young Tigers team but wont have it all their own way.

In the second match of the day, Wanderers will have their work cut out dealing with a powerful Southern Districts line up. Districts will be keen to stay in touch with the teams at the top of the ladder & will most probably inflict a heavy defeat on the Eagles who struggled against Nightcliff last week.

Match of the round should feature the improving Palmerston up against St. Marys. Saints have been solid in their last two outings without really hitting their straps while Palmerston knocked off NTFL heavyweights, Waratah in their last home match. The Saints midfield will need to work hard to combat the Magpies runners but their defence has been rock solid in recent weeks. Up front if the Saints tall forwards can fire then it will make life difficult for the Palmerston side.

Sunday’s game sees the Warriors return to home turf at the Gardens Oval, where they host the Buffaloes. The Tahs were dissapointing last week against Palmerston & will be looking to bounce back against a Darwin side that is struggling to compete with the better teams.

This weeks ABC TV game is St. Marys vs Palmerston. Replay on Sunday at 8:00am in the NT & the following Saturday at 4:00pm on ABC2
