Sundays game at Southern Cross oval was an interesting affair. With the game between Palmerston & Waratah marred by some interesting umpiring decisions. None more so than when former South Fremantle player, Jethro Calma-Holt took mark of the day but was deemed to have pushed his opponent in the back with his knee whilst getting the “Ride” Spectators were left dumbfounded.
The match was played at a frantic pace under warm conditions & in the end it was the previously undefeated Warriors who went down to the Magpies (who opened their 07/08 account) by 28 points.

Livewire forward Selwyn Anderson kicked 3 goals for Tahs but also made some costly mistakes late in the game. Long kicking forward Kevin Bruce also added 2 for the Warriors. Brad Rayson & Dane Bergman were amongst the Tahs best.

For the Magpies, Shannon Masters was outstanding at centre half back, Tim Murphy worked tirelessly, Peter Shepherd was a stong target up front & Lincoln Mungatopi showed some good signs. The win sets up Palmerston for a showdown with the undefeated Saints in the match of the round at TIO stadium from 7:30pm.
