Opportunity knocks for Simpson

The 2006 season was progressing nicely for Swan Districts after the completion of Round 10. The Black and Whites had won six of their last seven matches, were sitting in fourth place on the ladder two games clear of their nearest rival and had just inflicted the first defeat for the season on the high flying Subiaco.

But then it all turned sour.

A spate of injuries to key players depleted the playing list and the Swans managed just one more win for the year as their promising season turned into a nightmare.

However, through all of the injuries came opportunities for young players such as Forrestfield junior Justin Simpson.
