WEST Perth coach Bill Monaghan has revealed skipper Jason Salecic pushed through the pain barrier last season by delaying shoulder surgery.

Salecic (25) played all 21 games for the Falcons in 2009, including their semi-final loss to Swan Districts despite battling problems with both shoulders.

He has recovered well after having two shoulder reconstructions during the off-season, and is expected to play in the Falcons first pre-season match against East Fremantle next Saturday.

Monaghan said there was plenty of potential upside to Salecic’s game this year, describing the club captain as one of the WAFL’s most underrated players.
