Former West Perth utility, Josh Smith has been selected to make his AFL debut for North Melbourne when they travel to AAMI Stadium to take on Adelaide on Saturday night.
Smith has been in good form in the VFL and has been named at Centre Half Forward for the Kangaroos.
After being elevated from the rookie list, former Swan Districts livewire, David Ellard will play his first AFL game in front of family and friends when he steps on to Subiaco Oval for Carlton tomorrow night.
Ellard kicked three goals on WAFL debut for Swans and would love to repeat the dose against the Eagles in his home town.
A third West Australian will begin his AFL career this round if number six draft selection, David Myers makes the cut for Essendon.
Myers, who impressed for Perth last season, has been selected on an extended interchange bench, alongside fellow WA product Leroy Jetta, for the Bombers clash with Port Adelaide at Telstra Dome on Sunday.
Elsewhere, Brisbane has recalled Ash McGrath and Mitch Clark, Michael Gardiner returns for St Kilda and Wayde Skipper has been named as part of a 25-man squad for the Western Bulldogs.
On the other side of the ledger, Sharrod Wellingham, who debuted for Collingwood in last week’s ANZAC Day clash at the MCG, has made way for skipper, Scott Burns and Essendon’s Kyle Reimers will miss the match against the Power with a foot injury.
