Fleay to play game 100

WEST Perth defender Dion Fleay is set to reach a personal milestone, when he steps out to play game 100, fittingly against East Perth on Easter Monday.
Fleay, who also turns 26 in a few months time said was delighted to be playing his milestone 100th game, especially as it happens to be a derby clash.

Originally from Wickepin, in the Upper Great Southern league, Fleay was pencilled in to be a Bulldog, but came to the Falcons as part of a move that saw Ryan Webb move to South Fremantle instead. Coincidently, Fleay made his League debut against South Fremantle back in 2004.

He was soon rewarded by the club by proving his worth, winning back-to-back Breckler Medals in 2006/07 as the Falcons fairest and best.

The seasoned defender recalled a lighter moment in his career a few years ago when he gave a spray to an AFL listed umpire who was doing his rounds in the WAFL. Not to be deterred, the AFL umpire turned to Fleay and called him a “WAFL nobody”. By his own admission, Fleay was having an ordinary game, but even he was taken aback by this super sledge.

Nevertheless, Fleay rated his favourite games in the red and blue as any derby win against the Royals, but admitted that the win against Subiaco in the final game of 2009 to move into the top four was as good as any he had played.
