West Perth has climbed to third place on the WAFL ladder following a thrilling six-point victory over Swan Districts at Arena Joondalup.

In the game of the season so far the Falcons held firm in a pulsating final term to win, 18.15 (123) to 18.9 (117).

Former skipper Clayton Lasscock kicked the winning goal at the 29-minute mark of the final quarter after intercepting an errant David McKinlay kick out from goal.

Lasscock’s goal resulted in the seventh lead change of the thrilling term after Swans fought back from 11-points down early in time-on with goals to Llane Spaanderman and Jeffrey Garlett.

West Perth Centre Half-Forward Brent LeCras was tireless in collecting 22 disposals and finished with four goals and received great support from Josh Pearce, Dion Fleay and Lasscock.

Swans had an even spread of good players with Llane Spaanderman, Brett Robinson, Wayde Twomey, Tony Notte, Paul Richardson and Chris Yarran all having an impact at times.

The match provided a glimpse into the future with the likes of youngsters Garlett, Yarran, Nick Naitanui, Tony Notte, Stephen Hill, Josh Pullman and Clancee Pearce all prominant.

Yarran was especially impressive finishing with four goals, one of which will be hard to beat as goal of the year as he sidestepped two more experienced opponents before threading the goal from 35 metres out on the boundary line.
