Falcons fly home over Claremont

West Perth produced a brilliant eight-goal burst in the third quarter to shrug off a determined Claremont outfit, winning by 35 points at Arena Joondalup today.

The Falcons held a five-point lead at the long break before kicking three goals in the first five minutes to break the game open, and then the final four majors of the period to secure the four points.

Former Kangaroo, Brent LeCras was supurb for the home side, kicking eight goals and roaming around the ground to take a number of marks.

Strong tackling was also a feature of LeCras’ performance as he marshalled the West Perth forward line.

Callum Chambers ran hard and found plenty of space in the second half, finishing with three goals, while key forward, Adam Campbell also managed three six-pointers.

The Tigers toiled hard in the windy conditions but failed to take opportunities when they presented themselves.

To make matters worse for the visitors, experienced midfielder, Michael Cousens was reported for making front on high contact to Matt Tedesco and Anthony Jones may be investigated after he cannoned into the back of Andrew Strijk in a marking contest during the third quarter.
