West Coast vice-captain Rowan Jones will know if his strong WAFL form will count for anything when the Eagles announce the replacement for Andrew Embley at team selections tonight.

Jones has been in sensational form for Claremont this season, but he is yet to crack a senior game for West Coast. His 108 game West Coast career however will remain in doubt if not given the nod tonight to kick start his career again.

The race for the vacant position has come down to Sam Butler, Damien Adkins, Daniel McConnell, Mark LeCras, Matt Rosa and perhaps the forgotten Jones who continues to impress without receiving senior game recognition.

If Worsfold goes for debutant Rosa, doubt will continue to linger if Jones will play another game for West Coast with the possibility of being lured as trade bait to rival clubs.

Butler is perhaps the most likely to play after being impressive for Perth and already playing 10 games this season.

McConnell has done some good things when playing for the Eagles and has shown good form with East Perth. However, a groin injury that he is playing through, may keep him out.

Adkins has been up and down in recent weeks for Perth, but that could be excused given the Demons form. He was excellent and Sunday and is a chance to return.

Youngster LeCras looked good when he came into West Coast's side and had another good game for West Perth on Sunday, in defence and in attack.

With only 2 wins and 5 losses on the board the pressure is mounting on the Eagles to make a change and find a way to turn their season around. Facing Sydney this weekend will not be an easy task by any stretch of the imagination. Sydney too are in a

As has happened in the last few weeks Worsfold is looking to adapt and change the Eagles squad in an effort to find the winning combination to allow West Coast to notch up a few more wins on the board.

Sitting in 14th spot is not a position that any of the fans, critics, especially John Worsfold would have envisioned for the club at this point in time. And as such Worsfold has changed his thinking slightly and is looking towards the younger guys performing in the WAFL to fill in the gaps in the team.

He has warned that no player can be assured of their position unless they perform consistently well enough to earn it. Prime example of this is the Lynch case. Having spent a week on the sidelines, despite his strong performances previously, he is in danger of losing his position due to the fact that other guys, namely Brett Jones and Darren Glass, are in great form at the moment

Worsfold acknowledges the importance of the next couple of games to allow the Eagles to attain the goals they set at the beginning of the season.

Amid all the controversy surrounding the club this week you could be forgiven for forgetting that West Coast play Melbourne at the MCG this Sunday. With the Eagles currently standing with a 2-4 win/loss record it is a pivotal game for West Coast to get their season back on track.

Melbourne have been in fine form recently thrashing Carlton by 105 points last weekend and having won their last 5 games. Worsfold agrees that this weekend will be another formidable task for the boys as is each and every game they play.
