Coach of the AFL’s wooden spooners John Worsfold says his is disappointed by Chad Fletcher’s arrest this week on alleged drug possession.

Woosha said the brush with the law was disappointing, but claims the former Eagle’s behaviour in no way reflects the current culture of the AFL club.

It came at an unfortunate time for Fletcher as former team-mate Ben Cousins’ tell-all documentary about drug-taking airs tonight on Channel 7.

Woosha said West Coast had gotten rid of the drug culture that plagued the club during the middle part of this decade but Worsfold said Fletcher’s actions should not put the Eagles in a negative light.

“Personally for me it’s just disappointing for Chad to make those decisions,” Worsfold said.

“I haven’t really thought about it from a club perspective.”

Fletcher retired from AFL at the end of last season after 179 games for the Eagles.

He was arrested in a Kings Cross nightclub over the weekend for alleged possession of cocaine.

However, the Eagles coach has not shown much disappointment in his current team this season, despite playing arguably some of the most shocking games this year.

His constant argument that the club will be finals contenders in three years has not worn well with loyal supporters, who are threatening to leave their beloved club because of the downward spiral they are finding themselves in.

Woosha seems to have vented his “disappointment” and frustration in the wrong direction, blatantly telling those supporters to leave the club and make room for those on its membership waiting list.

The besieged coach, who managed only four wins this year, told doubting Eagles fans to go and support another AFL club if they don’t believe a bright future lies ahead.

“The people who want to sit and say ‘well it’s all miserable now’ well that’s fine,” Worsfold told Perth radio station 6PR earlier this month.

“Jump off, go and find another team to support and miss out on the great times this club will have going forward.

“This club has a great record and will come through, I’m telling you.

“We’ll be a very strong club again in the near future. We won’t stay down for too long.

“There’s no doubt I can take the club where it’s going to go because that’s a matter of having the ability to build a group and I’ve got absolutely no doubt I can do that.

“This year we went in with a squad some 800 games younger than it was last year.

“I’m confident we can follow the path that Richmond and Melbourne have blazed.”
