Players at the West Coast Eagles camp have been put on notice despite coach John Worsfold saying he does not believe his future with the club is in jeopardy.

The news came following Saturday’s humiliating 49-point thrashing to last-placed Richmond.

National media have reported that a raft of changes is expected to the club’s structure, including coaching and support staff, and speculated that no-one’s job is safe.

But Woosha has put the heat on the 14th-placed West Coast outfit, who on the club’s website said his players need to prove they want to be a part of the side in the second half of the season.

Four straight losses have seen pressure mount on the coach and his team, with Saturday’s loss to last-placed Richmond the low-point of the season so far.

“We’ve got the ability now to have a look at the guys that we think we might want to play,” he said.

“We think we’ve drafted some good talented young kids over the last three to four years and we’re keen to give them the opportunity to play.

“We’ve got some other players that have got to show that they want to be a part of that team going forward.”

An article in The Australian suggests wholesale changes could be made at West Coast if they don’t start winning games.

Worsfold has denied reading the article, but was reported as saying it would be “silly to think with the team the way it is that a lot of people aren’t going to question the coaching performance”.

He said that was all part of being an AFL coach, so he wasn’t worried.

“But we have to understand we had to go backwards. We’ve gone to a younger squad this year,” said reiterating the club’s ‘three-year plan’.

The Eagles are one win and a percentage point above last-placed Tigers.
