West Coast Eagles head honcho Trevor Nisbett has joined local not-for-profit organisation Foodbank WA’s board.
Making the announcement today, Foodbank chairman Mark Crumby said the the Eagles’ chief executive’s appointment came at an important time for the organisation.
“Foodbank is embarking on a major capital program this year to improve service, capability and coverage for all of our community agencies across the state and Trevor’s skills and experience at board level will be of great value,” Mr Crumby said.
“His strong network and presence at corporate and government levels will assist in increasing awareness and profile of food distress in our community and the continuing support required to address this issue.”
Each year, Foodbank assists more than 40,000 Western Australians to put food on theie table, or the equivalent of virtually a full house at Subiaco Oval for a West Coast home game.
Mr Nisbett said the two organisations shared synergy with that parallel.
“I have a passion for the WA community and improving outcomes for people who are less fortunate,” Mr Nisbett said.
“My knowledge of the challenges, both in the regional and metropolitan areas provides a similar focus and reach to that of Foodbank.
“The West Coast Eagles has a strong program of community initiatives in which I take great pride and I see this secondment as an extension of that commitment. I am delighted to be on the board and look forward to a long association with Foodbank.”
