The West Coast Eagles could unleash their star recruit, Nick Naitanui, for this weekend’s tough clash with the Cats at Subiaco Oval.

The Eagles chose the 201 cm ruck-man with their No.2 pick at last year’s national draft but he has been on the sidelines for most of the season after undergoing knee surgery in January.

Naitanui played well for his WAFL side, the Swan Districts on Saturday however, finishing with 14 possessions, 15 hit-outs and a goal.

Coach John Worsfold said the Eagles weren’t sure whether or not they should rush him back for the clash with the Cats or give him another week to prove his fitness in the WAFL.

He added that Naitanui wouldn’t be picked just for the sake of it and that when he makes his debut it would’ve been because he earned it.

Naitanui has been in good form for the Swans the last few weeks, so there isn’t much stopping him from debuting this weekend.
