Melbourne hold an 11 point lead over the Eagles at half time at the MCG.
Damian Adkins came in to the line-up to replace Chad Fletcher, who could not take his place in the side due to a shoulder injury, while Brett Jones made his AFL debut after impressive form in recent weeks for Claremont.
Melbourne got off to a flying start kicking the first four goals of the match, before the Eagles settled kicking the next two goals.
At quarter time, the Eagles trailed by 16 points, while Judd was off the ground vomiting after receiving a heavy blow to the stomach.
The Eagles came out firing in the second quarter, with a goal to David Wirrpunda while Dean Cox was dominating in the ruck.
However Melbourne gained control, particularly through Russell Robertson, who has kicked four goals until half time.
The highlight of the half was a breathtaking mark to Ashley Sampi, one of the best seen in many years. Sampi goalled from the mark on half time.
David Neitz spent most of the second quarter on the bench, finishing the half with 0 possessions, while Chris Heffernan has been reported for tripping.
Best for Melbourne for the half are Russell Robertson, Jared Rivers in defense, while Adam Yze has picked up 13 possessions.
Daniel Kerr leads the way for the Eagles with 17 disposals, while Darren Glass has shut Neitz out of the game.
