Tim Houlihan (East Fremantle)

Houlihan had racked up 17 possessions and kicked two goals, before going down with a hamstring injury minutes into the third quarter. He showed a good change of pace and was able to execute one-two passes on several occasions.

Jordan Jones (Peel Thunder)

After a lengthy spell through injury, the 20-year-old made a fairly modest return, collecting just 12 touches in a team that was comprehensively beaten after the first quarter. Jones played multiple roles on a half-back flank, on the ball and in the forward line.

Ben McKinley (East Perth)

Arguably played his best game of the season, albeit against a pretty weak opposition backline. McKinley started the second term at full-forward and finished with 12 marks, 16 kicks and 7.2. He had nine set shots and also had a couple of goal assists.

Jarrad Oakley-Nicholls (East Perth)

Was very undisciplined at times, giving away two consecutive 50m penalties in the first term, before playing across half-forward and on a wing, but failing to have an impact on the game. In recent weeks he has displayed some of the form that would warrant an AFL recall, but was certainly well off his best against Peel. Oakley-Nicholls played on the ball in the final term, and had his best quarter, and did manage to finish with two goals.

Matt Spangher (East Fremantle)

Collected just 10 possessions in his side’s gritty 12-point derby win, but from all accounts was solid at full-back and at centre half-back for the first three quarters and dominated his opponent in Josh Head. He ran off and used the ball well, which set East Fremantle into a good transition. He had two goals kicked on him in the last quarter, both massive 60m drop punts, including one after the siren.

Koby Stevens (East Fremantle)

A strong bodied youngster capable of playing games as a forward with the occasional run on-ball. He showed off both these facets in the derby, with 24 touches and showed a strong running capacity as well as a good turn of pace. He kicked two good set shot goals and worked hard before cramping towards the end of the game.

Luke Shuey (East Perth)

A good return match for Shuey who played a little over half a game through the midfield and used the ball well by foot. Showed his class at times, was well managed by the Royals coaching staff and should be looking for more ground time next week.

Callum Wilson (South Fremantle)

A real strong chance to play his first game in 2010 against Brisbane at Subiaco Oval, with the loser likely to receive the wooden spoon. South Fremantle could have used him on the weekend after he kicked five goals against East Fremantle back in round 5.
