The West Coast Eagles are poised to fight a one-game ban against midfielder Daniel Kerr at the AFL tribunal tonight.
Kerr was charged with a level two striking offence against Carlton’s Marc Murphy before the opening bounce of last Friday night’s clash with the Blues.
The incident was viewed by the match review panel, drawing 125 demerit points and a one-match sanction.
Kerr has been suspended 10 times within the past three years, which consequently increased the penalty by 50 per cent to 187.50 points with 10.38 demerit points carried over from the last 12 months, boosting the penalty again to 197.88 points.
Video footage showed Kerr gave a forearm to the chest of Murphy, leaving the Blues star winded, but because of Kerr’s poor record at the tribunal, there are doubts he has any chance of getting off.
Carlton’s Brett Thornton was also captured by video in a similar incident, but was not charged by the match review panel.
