Youth club seeks new caretaker

THE Bayswater Morley Youth Club is looking for someone to replace its long-serving caretaker.

The club, based at Houghton Park, is host to the Bayswater Morley and Eastern Monarchs Softball Clubs, as well as the Bayswater Morley Junior Football Club and the Central Crocs Masters Football Club.

“Our current caretaker, who has been in the role for the past 12 years, is moving on to pursue personal interests and will be greatly missed for his dedication to the club,” spokeswoman Jo-Anne Malkovic said.

The club is looking for anyone interested to take on the role in return for honorary club membership and a small financial honorarium.

Both the cities of Bayswater and Swan have a commitment to helping local organisations through Blue Ribbon Clubs, a certified incentive-based scheme that helps local clubs achieve long-term success.

“Various sporting groups have been based at Houghton Park for the past 50 years,” Bayswater Mayor Terry Kenyon said.

“A caretaker will greatly assist the Bayswater Morley Youth Club in continuing to promote a healthy lifestyle while playing a major role in co-ordinating activities that take place there.”

The role would suit a retired person living in the area, or any students who are studying sport or business administration and are looking for some practical hands-on experience.

The caretaker manages the use of the local hall and ground amenities between the sporting groups, as well as coordinating hall hire for the public.
