SWAN Districts on-baller Justin Simpson will not miss the opening round of the WAFL season, after escaping suspension at yesterday’s WAFL Tribunal hearing.
Simpson was charged with forceful front on contact against East Perth ruckman Zac Beeck during the end of the third quarter of their pre-season hit-out at EFTel Oval.
Meanwhile, East Fremantle’s Selby Leesteere received a reprimand for forceful contact on Subiaco midfielder Shaun Hildebrandt during their 54-point win over the Lions on the weekend.
However, there were plenty of scuffles in the reserves game between Perth and Claremont, with four players reported for engaging in rough conduct.
Perth’s Scott Ugle will miss the opening round of the season after being suspended for two weeks. Ugle was found guilty of engaging in rough conduct with Claremont’s Patrick Brennen during the second quarter.
In the same match, Claremont’s Gabe Orr received a reprimand for rough conduct on Scott Ugle, while Orr’s teammates, Simon Starling and Patrick Jannings both copped $20 fines for starting a melee with Perth’s Luke Dellabosca.
