Hat-trick for WA country stars

WA country footballers have achieved a remarkable feat, taking out best on ground honours in this season’s colts, reserves and league WAFL Grand Finals.
Lewis Broome, originally from Looma Eagles won the Mel Whinnen Medal, following his four goal performance for Claremont in the colts Grand Final.
Lake Grace young-gun Nat Fyfe also starred in the colts Grand Final, bagging seven goals for Claremont in their big win over Peel.
Sonny Dann and Gerrick Weedon (Kimberley) also featured for Claremont, while Aaron Black from (Bunbury) was the best for Peel Thunder.
Meanwhile, Boddington born Hayden North dominated in the midfield for South Fremantle in the reserves Grand Final, and was awarded the Merv McIntosh Medal.
While, Ashton Hams (Busselton) completed the hat-trick for country footballers, claiming the Simpson Medal in the 2009 WAFL Grand Final.
Hams was joined by a host of country players who dominated on the WAFL’s biggest stage, including Kris Miller from Kalgoorlie and outgoing legend Peter Bell from Kojonup.
