Bayswater Morley Youth Club is calling out for a new ground caretaker.

Based at Houghton Park, the club is host to Bayswater Morley and Eastern Monarchs Softball Club, Bayswater Morley Junior Football Club and the Central Crocs Masters Football Club.

Club spokesperson Jo-Anne Malkovic said the current caretaker, who hads been in the role for 12 years, was moving to pursue “personal interests” and the club was looking for someone with similar dedication.

“We’re looking for any interested community member to possibly take on the caretaker role in return for honorary club membership and a small financial honorarium,” she said in a statement.

“It would ideally suit a retired person living in the area or any students in sport or business administration looking for some practical hands-on experience.”

The caretaker will be charged with taking care of facilitates, the use of the local hall and ground amenities between the sporting groups, as well as coordinating hall hire.

Bayswater Mayor Terry Kenyon said various sporting groups have been based at Houghton Park for the past 50 years and a caretaker will greatly assist the Bayswater Morley Youth Club in continuing to promote a healthy lifestyle while playing a major role in coordinating activities that take place there.

“Local sporting clubs are an integral part of our society, helping to unite the community, and are a fun, healthy way for people to build social skills and establish lifelong friendship,” the mayor said.
