Code defector Mike Pyke, who played rugby union for Canada will now line-up this weekend as he debuts for the Sydney Swans against Richmond at the SCG.

The 200cm footballer, who played 17 Tests for Canada, has become a somewhat football chameleon, swapping countries and codes in an experiment never before attempted in the AFL.

Pyke, who only expected to play at season’s end will become the first international rookie from a non-Irish background to play in the AFL.
