Mark Seaby reckons his forthcoming battle with former mentor Dean Cox has been 12 months in the making.
The Sydney recruit Mark Seaby told news stations last night he intended on paying back Cox for all the hiding he received during trainings with his former West Coast team-mate, when the pair clash at the SCG on Saturday.
Seaby, a premiership-winning ruckman who played for the Eagles against the Swans in the 2005 and 2006 grand finals, headed to NSW after last season, but said Eagles coach John Worsfold held on to him for a year too long and that he had wanted to go earlier.
The 25-year-old, who played over 100 games for the Eagles and has been an effective recruit for Sydney, did concede though that he had learnt a massive amount from four-time All-Australian representative Cox.
Seaby said he had not taken Cox on yet in a full-on contest and that it would be a challenge for him
“I’ve probably been looking forward to it for a while,†he said.
Cox Seaby had showed that he was a quality AFL footballer and a premiership player and that he believed he was a couple of weeks away from being able to run out a full game.
Meanwhile, key midfielder Daniel Kerr will be out for up to three months from a hamstring injury.
