Sydney star Adam Goodes who was labeled earlier in the year a protected species by Leigh Matthews could finally miss a week of football after he was again cited by the match review panel today.

Goodes was charged for making contact to the head of Demon Clint Bartram during the Swans win in Canberra on Sunday.

Due to carryover points from a previous offence, Goodes can’t avoid suspension without going to the tribunal. Even if he pleads guilty, he will be suspended for a week.

If he takes it to the tribunal and loses, he will be suspended for two weeks.

It is the third report for Goodes this year.

He beat a striking charge at the tribunal after Round 2, and accepted a reprimand and 93.75 demerit points for making high contact in Round 11.

If he misses a game it will end one of the longest consecutive game streaks ever.

Crow Nathan Bassett and Port Adelaide’s Matt Thomas also face one-match suspensions.

Bassett was charged with striking Lion Jed Adcock, while Thomas was cited with engaging in rough conduct against Tiger Joel Bowden.

Both have carryover points from incidents in the past year which mean they cannot avoid suspension by an early plea.

Young docker Robert Warnock has escaped suspension for his late hit on Luke Ball and can accept a reprimand and 93.75 points towards his future record.

The incident that saw Eagle Adam Selwood seriously injure his throat was thrown out by the panel.
