Sydney co-captain Leo Barry has decided to give up his captaincy duties and focus purely on his own game for his final AFL season in 2009.

The highly skilled defender also pulled out of the leadership group altogether, explaining that he made the decision because he wanted to give a few of the younger members in the Swans group the opportunity to experience the demands of leadership.

Barry’s decision ends his seven year period as a team leader and said that it was a huge honor to be trusted with that role.
