The Swan Districts Football Club using its V Swans programs to be a leader of youth development in rural WA.
The club announced a $60,000 partnership with Australian Reliance who will be partnering together to run the Australian Reliance Future Leaders Program, which focuses on youth development in the Pilbara, Bunbury and east metropolitan Perth.
It’s the first time such a partnership has been created.
The initiative uses sport to deliver pathways in education, healthy lifestyles and career development that are culturally sensitive, integrated and inclusive.
Nicole Graves V Swans General Manager said the three-year sponsorship deal was essential to growing of the V Swans programs, while furthering the longevity of community development in rural WA.
“V Swans Future Leaders or as it will be known now the Australian Reliance Future Leaders program has provided support for young Indigenous and non Indigenous kids from the Pilbara region to continue their education and careers here in Perth,†she said.
“Sixteen young people have already benefitted from the program over the past two years and with the support of Australian Reliance we will continue to provide this wonderful opportunity and much more to the young people in our regional and remote communities of the Pilbara.â€
The V Swans program provides a variety of opportunities through career development, youth enhancement, mentoring, leadership camps, seminars, workshops and courses that support the personal development of indigenous students, program participants, workplace trainees and program staff.
Australian Reliance CEO Andrew Donnelly said the business was delighted to become the sponsors of the ‘Australian Reliance Future Leaders Program’ run by V Swans.
“The program offers fantastic opportunities and support to young people and we are thrilled to make a contribution to such a worthwhile initiative,†he said.
