Swans get their Guy

Swan Districts will no doubt be a finals contender in 2008 after the ‘black and whites’ secured yet another gun recruit in former Collingwood ruckman Guy Richards this week.

Richards was delisted by the Magpies after playing 39 games from 2004-2007, kicking just three goals in that time.

He struggled in the 2007 finals series and was eventually cut, leaving the 24-year-old with a last-ditch effort to save his AFL career by training with Richmond in the off-season in the hope of being snared in the preseason draft.

Richards was overlooked by all clubs in the off-season, but Swans have done enough to lure the left-footer to the WAFL.

Swans have also added former East Perth, Brisbane and West Coast listed ruckman Llane Spaanderman, ex-Richmond forward Andrew Krakouer and former Geelong player Matthew Spencer to their squad in the off-season.
