LAST week’s embarrassing 50-point loss to West Perth has been dubbed “the most disappointing effort for the year” by Subiaco coach Chris Waterman.

The third placed Lions went into the match as favourites, despite having lost the last three games at Arena Joondalup, and got off to the worst start after conceding eight goals in the first quarter.

With in form forward Blake Broadhurst (7.1) and Marc Webb (22 possessions) the only shining lights on the day, Waterman conceded the players simply let slip a game they could ill afford.

“We had a lot to play for and were extremely poor for the entire day.  The players and coaches have addressed it at training and we understand that it was not acceptable and we won’t stand for it again,” Waterman said.

“We now find ourselves in a play-off situation for the rest of the year and that presents a great challenge for the playing group.

“We are now facing teams who are chasing a spot in the four and South is one of them, (so) this week will be a big game for both clubs.”

On the injury front, Ben Randall should find a spot in the 22 this week, however Adam Cockie, Phil Read, Jason Bristow, Rob Forrest and Mark Re are a chance to return after the Round 19 bye.
