The Saints have secured the services of speedy wingman Andrew Lovett in what was a suprising conclusion to the race for Lovett’s silky skills on day two of trade week.

Essendon will now have access to the Saints’ first round draft pick.

Road on the street is that Lovett had rejected higher financial terms from Brisbane and Port Adelaide who both offered him generous four-year deals, compared to the three-year deal offered by the Saints.

It seems the possibility of winning a flag and the ease at which Lovett would fit into St Kilda’s side was to good for him to ignore.

The Saints’ next move in trade week will be trying to negogiate a fair deal with the Magpies in exchange for Luke Ball.
