Nick Riewoldt let St Kilda to a 34-point victory against Collingwood in Friday night’s semi-final at the MCG.

Riewoldt finished with five goals and fifteen marks, as the Saints won 17.4 (106) to 9.18 (72).

It was a great come-back for the Saints who were belted by Geelong last weekend, and now face the tough task of defeating the Hawks who boast the freakish talents of Lance ‘Buddy’ Franklin.

The win has kept alive Robert Harvey’s dream of adding a premiership to his amazing 21-year career.

Riewoldt was well supported by Justin Koschitzke and Stephen Milne who both kicked three valuable goals.

St Kilda’s defense was outstanding, regularly intercepting Collingwood’s forward entries, with Travis Cloke and Paul Medhurst both comprehensively beaten by their opponents.

The Magpie midfielders were far less dominant then Saints’ stars Nick Dal Santo and Leigh Montagna

Hawthorn will be the favorites in next week’s preliminary final but don’t write the Saints off, as they will be eager to qualify for just their third grand final match since their only premiership success in 1966.

St Kilda will be buoyed by the fact that they did beat the Hawks in Round 16.
