Mr Dandalooa
Defender Sam Fisher could be sidelined at St Kilda for up to six weeks after injuring his ankle in the AFL NAB Cup final 40-point final loss to the Western Bulldogs.
Coach Ross Lyon revealed the 2008 All-Australian’s injury was quite severe at the club family day in Frankston this week.
Fisher rolled his ankle in the first quarter of last weekend’s game at Etihad Stadium and Lyon said this week the injury was much worse than what the club originally anticipated.
Lyon said while Fisher’s injury was “a little bit of a hiccup†the club was in good shape.
“It’s probably a little bit worse than we thought - he’ll miss a few weeks,” Lyon said.
“That just means someone gets an opportunity to stand up and we’re confident we’ll go out there and play Saints footy.
“We’re ready to go again, we’re really hungry.”
Saints football manager Greg Hutchison said the result is not what the club had hoped for.
“It looks potentially like it might be up to about four weeks, so once we get the full results of the scans, which have been done today, we’ll sit down with our medical team tomorrow and plan out where he’s at,†he said.
“We know it’s a significant injury.”
Lyon said the club must maintain 2009’s intensity and keep improving if they are to win the club’s second premiership.
