After a stellar second-half season in the WAFL, South Fremantle gun forward Callum Wilson will finally make his AFL debut for West Coast this weekend against Essendon at Subiaco Oval.

Wilson was elevated from the rookie list and will replace the out-of-sorts Ashley Hansen who had a dirty day in the Western derby, which included a poster from point blank range in his 1.2 effort.

The rookie has impressed in the WAFL, booting 34 goals in 11 games, with 28 of them coming in just his last six games.

The 21-year-old is also averaging an impressive eight marks in his last eight games, on top of an equally impressive 17 disposals at full-forward.

In a coup for South Fremantle, Wilson’s elevation from the rookie list will provide him with much valued AFL experience, before he returns to the WAFL to bolster the Bulldogs’ finals chances.

Wilson is the only West Coast listed player for South Fremantle and at 191cm will prove to be a handful with his strong leads, superior marking skills, deceptive pace and devastating long kicks.

Wilson has already proved his capabilities at WAFL level with five goal hauls against Subiaco and West Perth and will start at full forward, alongside LeCras and Lynch.

Meanwhile, Mark Seaby’s future at the club look bleak after being omitted, leaving bulk ruck duties to Dean Cox’s heir apparent Nic Naitanui.

Ben McKinley, who kicked five straight for East Perth in the WAFL last weekend will join premiership midfielder Tyson Stenglein, young defender Eric Mackenzie and Ryan Davis on the interchange.

The Eagles chances of winning have improved after a mass casualty count at Essendon, with Lloyd (heel), McVeigh (corked thigh), Winderlich (back), Davey (knee) all out of action for this Sunday’s clash.
