The West Coast Eagles are rumoured to be interested in recruiting former Richmond forward Andrew Krakouer.

There is speculation about that the Eagles are eyeing him off, however, to get the former jailbird, the Eagles may have to poach him from the Gold Coast Suns.

The West Australian footballer walked free in November last year after his request for parole was approved.

The Prisoner’s Review Board approved Mr Krakouer’s application for parole on September 21.

Krakouer was sentenced to a minimum 16 months in jail for a serious assault in Fremantle in late 2006.

He played for the Wooroloo Prison team which plays in the Mercantile Football Association.

Since his release, Krakouer has been a solid contributor to the Swan Districts attracing the interest of many clubs.

The Eagles could draft Krakouer if the Suns decide not to list him but is unlikely that the Eagles would consider a trade for him if the price was anything but cheap.

At 27, Krakouer is thought to be one of the best senior players in the WAFL this year and his stint in the judicial system seems to have improved his physical condition.

Krakouer played 102 games for Richmond, before the Tigers cut him at the end of the 2007 season following his assault charge, which was over an incident at Fremantle in late December, 2006.
