The Tigers won’t recruit Ben Cousins if the AFL rejects its appeal to add Graham Polak to the rookie list.

The AFL commission will meet on Monday and make a decision on Polak’s situation. If they allow him to be put on the rookie list, it will give the Tigers another pick in the pre-season draft, where they may choose to pick Cousins.

Tigers president Gary March said however that if their proposal is rejected by the AFL then they will use their last remaining pick on a younger player rather then the risky Cousins.

The former West Coast leader called Richmond coach Terry Wallace, pleading him to consider his services, resulting in a meeting on Thursday between Wallace, captain Chris Newman and Cousins.

Cousins might just be back in action.
