West Australian Dom Cassisi has been reappointed captain of the Port Adelaide Football Club for 2010 and one of his second in charge will be Jacob Surjan. Two West Australian boys that couldnt find a place in a West Australian team yet to their credit both boys will lead the Power along with Dean Brojan.
Surjan was taken as a pre-season draft pick for Port Adeaide pick ten 2003 after being overlooked in the National Draft by all clubs including both West Australian clubs. In that year Fremantle took Ryley Dunn, Ryan Murphy, Adam Campbell, David Mundy, Brett Peake, Michael Johnson while West Coast picked up Beau Waters, Sam Butler, Daniel McConnell while elavting Zac Beel and Mark Nicoski. West Australians to go missing from that draft include Matthew Moody, Mathew Spencer, Llane Spandermann, Brett Hall and Brent Lecra. Surjan has developed into a valuable commodity at the Port after having two stellar seasons with the Power and this year earning a place in the leadership group. Surjan has both on and off field qualities that has seen him named as a rising star.
Dean Brojan came off the rookie list and has performed admirably with the club to also be announced a vice captain. Brogan won an NBL championship before moving to the AFL and has found himself an inegral part of the football club.
