Port Adelaide coach Mark Williams has defended his suspended runner David Arnfield, insisting some of the charges against him were incorrect.
Arnfield was suspended for a month after repeatedly breaching the AFL’s rules regarding runners.
The League determined Arnfield had breached the rule relating to runners being allowed onto the ground “for the sole purpose of conferring with the players of his club†and failed to leave the field immediately.
Williams said he’d never instructed a runner to go out onto the ground for any other reason than to deliver a message.
