The Advertiser todays reports that Port Adelaide missed out on at least $100,000 at AAMI Stadium's gates last weekend by not meeting its expectation of drawing 40,000 fans to the blockbuster clash with Collingwood at AAMI Stadium.

The 31,174 turn-out to the heavily promoted grudge match between the teal-donning Power and Magpies also cost the AFL about 10,000 on its critical attendance figures.
While Port's average crowd figure at AAMI Stadium is up 999 on last year's comparison after six rounds of the premiership season, the Power's budgets have not been met because of below-expected attendances to the Power's blockbusters with Collingwood and Essendon this year. These matches drew 31,174 and 28,413 respectively, well short of the 40,000 expected.

Port's budgets on Sunday were based on a stand-alone Port-Collingwood game last season drawing 43,321 at AAMI Stadium. The Power broke even at the gate where it expected a $100,000 windfall.

And the AFL and Port Adelaide Football Club know exactly why these high-profile games lured so few through the AAMI Stadium gates
