WAFL Winners & Losers - Round 8

BIG WINNERS - PERTH
Perth’s win over Claremont gives them consecutive wins over two of the WAFL’s ‘big three’ of the past four seasons after defeating South Fremantle last week. The Demons have always been capable of causing the odd upset over the last decade but have struggled for consistency, however they now appear to be high on confidence and are genuine finals contenders in a very even competition.

BIG LOSERS - PEEL
A fortnight ago Peel was shaping as the big improvers of the WAFL but now, after consecutive three-figure losses, the Thunder are starting to look more familiar. They have conceded 56.53 over the last two matches and now face East Perth in a match that they must win to arrest the slide.

PLAYER OF THE ROUND - ADAM CAMPBELL (WP)
The New Zealand-born key forward was on fire for the Falcons with ten goals as West Perth crushed Peel. Campbell has often threatened to dominate a match but rarely has he produced such an unstoppable performance. With the Dockers forward line so inconsistent this season another opportunity may not be too far away for Campbell.

KEEP YOUR EYE ON...TIM HOULIHAN
The West Coast-listed wingman from North Ballarat led the way for East Fremantle in their first win for the season, collecting 36 possessions and kicking two goals. Yet to crack the Eagles line-up, Houlihan has put his hat in the ring as they look to rebuild their weakened midfield with his best match in Sharks colours.
