Perth Edge Out Tigers

Perth has recorded its first win over Claremont for six years, coming from a three-quarter time deficit to win by 19 points at Claremont Oval yesterday.
The Demons held the ascendency for most of the match but only edged ahead on the scoreboard in the final term, winning, 11.16 (82) to 9.9 (63).
Fremantle’s Mark Johnson made a rare appearance for Perth and was a solid contributor, but was reported for head high contact on Claremont forward, David Crawford.
While much of the focus was on the Demons’ AFL-listed players, Johnson, Steven Armstrong, Sam Butler and Chris Mayne it was the versatile Aaron Zucconi and the silky skills of Ross Young that helped the Demons across the line.
Once again Claremont rookie, Ian Richardson displayed his talent around the goals, finishing with four majors while Beau Wilkes continued his exellent form in defence.
The loss leaves the Tigers struggling in seventh place on the ladder with just two wins from seven matches.
In contrast Perth has now moved up to third spot and could sneak into second if they defeat an improving West Perth next Saturday at Eftel Oval.
