Jarman on the move

AFTER managing just two wins to date, Perth Demons coach Andrew Jarman today announced he will be leaving the club at the end of the season.

Jarman, who has spent just two years at the helm, told his players before training that he would be heading back to Adelaide with his family.

The 44-year-old said the decision to step down was by mutual consent, and thanked the Demons for their full support despite a dour season.

“I am heading back for family reasons, I absolutely love it here and would love to stay but my family comes first,’’ he said.

“They have done nothing but get behind me, which I am thankful for because it is a long season when you have only won two games.

“But I couldn’t have asked for more from my players. They mightn’t have won many games but their commitment has been first class.”

Jarman, who replaced Simon Eastaugh as league coach back in October 2008 will leave WA with his wife and three children at the end of the year.

In his first season, the club won nine games and drew one to finish sixth - just four points adrift of the top four.

But the club was unable to replicate that success this season, with the Demons slumping to the foot of the ladder after losing their opening nine game straight.
