An eight goal haul from Matthew Ferguson has inspired Perth to a 37-point come-from-behind win against East Fremantle at EFTel Oval on Saturday afternoon.
The Demons trailed by as much as five goals in the first quarter, but fought back kicking 12 goals to 3 in the second half to run out convincing winners – 16.15. (111) to 11.8. (74).
Matthew Ferguson was kept quiet in the first half, managing just one goal, but the former Saint ran an absolute riot, booting seven second-half goals to finish with eight for the match in a career best performance.
With all guns firing, Perth showed its true potential, with Ross Young (39 possessions) in Sandover Medal form, kicking two great goals for the winners.
Jarrod Kayler-Thomson (31) was also instrumental in the win, providing lots of run through the middle and proved lethal on the left foot with six inside 50s.
In the first term, the home side kicked the opening goal of the game, but conceded the next six to be 23-points down at quarter time.
Inaccurate kicking prevented Perth from taking the lead, with the Demons kicking 2.6 for the quarter, despite dominating possession.
The third quarter lasted an astonishing 36-minutes, and saw the Demons arrest momentum and the lead from the Sharks with seven goals to one, including five in time-on.
The Demons again outscored their opponents in the final term to pull off a remarkable come-from-behind win.
Perth now sits in fifth position after being in wooden spoon contention just a fortnight ago.
