Posted Feb 10, 2009 - 16:22 PM

The Peel Thunder, just a month ago were facing off field challenges that may have made a weaker group give the dream away. Now, before the scratch matches have even kicked off, and on the back of their most successful year in the club’s history, they are preparing to improve on the 8 wins of 2008, on and off the field.

While all lists will need be finalized in a couple of weeks time, footygoss will try to bring you up to date as soon as the information comes to hand.

For Peel, there are some handy pickups, headlined by former Fremantle veteran Heath Black. Danny Chartes is the other recruit straight out of the AFL system. After two years on Essendon’s list, Chartres is back at home, and the Thunder will be all the better for his presence.

Gains: Danny Chartres Essendon, Rory Obrien North Adelaide, Kain Robins Eaglehawk Vic., Damien Lock Eaglehawk Vic., Heath Black Fremantle

Losses: Adam Walsh (travelling), Andrew Green (retired), Steve Chaplehow (retired), Leigh Hughes (retired), Grant Welsh (retired), Dave Butler (work), Ryan Nye (work).

The losses see a combined exit of more than 300 games, so there will be some experience lost that will need to be covered.

The list will be finalized after the intra club practice match in 11 days time.

Intra Club Match: 21st Feb Rushton Park at 10 AM.

Training Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at 5:45 Rushton Park.

The Thunder also have a few openings for support staff, so if you want to be involved in the inner sanctum, and you could time keep, carry water, or assist as a trainer or a statistician, don’t hesitate to call the club on 9535 3448.
