Peel Thunder goal sneak, Hayden Ballantyne, has topped off a 75-goal breakout season to be named the 2008 Sandover Medalist.
The 21-year-old, who is the second Peel player to receive the honour after Alistair Pickett in 2002, received 41 votes just ahead of West Perth’s Callum Chambers who got 39.
Perth centreman Ross Young, who only played 12 matches before breaking his collarbone, was third with 28 votes, one ahead of Subiaco full forward and Sandover favourite, Brad Smith.
Ballantyne is expected to be drafted to an AFL club in November.
