Melbourne Football Club president Jim Stynes remains upbeat about his future and his family, as he continues his battle with cancer.

Stynes is now out of hospital after undergoing major surgery, which involved the removal of part of a lung.

The Brownlow medallist is about to go on a three-week holiday with his family and is remaining optimistic about beating the disease.

“I believe I can and (so do) the people who matter, the healers and specialists they believe I can and that gives me great confidence,” he said.
